Portfolio of the Week – Nicolas Ramallo

From Venezuela, one of the first infographic designers to support us in that part of the world

We return to Venezuela to bring you the work of one of the earliest friends of Visual Loop in that region of the world: Nicolas Ramallo, who has been working at the El Universal newspaper since 1997. He was one of the first ones to mention Visual Loop, back in 2010, and we’ve been in touch since then.

Nicolas graduated in Illustration from the Instituto de Diseño de Caracas, and in 1997 started his career in infographic design working at the graphics department of Venezuela’s leading daily newspaper, El Universal. In addition to his job, he also works as a freelancer – actually, many of the works presented here are from Río Verde magazine, an environmental publication dedicated to cover issues like biodiversity and exploitation of natural resources.

Recently, he received an invitation from the great Chilean infographic designer Jorge Cortés – who we’ll try to feature here in the future – to join a collective of visualization professionals that will be known as “Look It”. More details on this soon.

His work was recognized several times, including three Malofiej bronze medals in 2004, 2006 and 2007 for works published in the newspapers’s website. We close the series of works by Nicolas Ramallo with those three interactive visualizations.
