Interactive Inspiration [56]

Closing the week with a stream of "data visualization-galore".

October 4, 2013

Last Wednesday, we talked about Visualizing.Org‘s data visualization Challenge ‘Visualizing Hospital Price Data‘, for which creators tackled data released from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) showing hospital charges and medicare payments.

The opening entry in today’s post comes from Adam McCann, who won 1st place for his project Optimal Hospital, which helps users explore their hospital options and includes a hospital recommender that factors in the variables of care, price, service, communication, and environment to produce an aggregated hospital score. For judges, the project stands out for its analysis and organized interface leveraging Tableau. You can check the gallery with all the 52 projects here.

And before you enjoy the full list of interactive goodies, a quick reminder that earlier in the week, we selected some of best projects running for this year’s Online Journalism Awards! Lots of amazing data visualization and data journalism works there.

Now, let’s move on to this Interactive Inspiration:
