As data visualization expands its reach – through the rise of Massive Online Courses, the countless events and, most significantly, the interconnection between different disciplines and knowledge fields that produce inspiring works and innovative projects -, it’s only natural that the number of folks writing about it keeps rising.
There are literally hundreds of interesting blogs out there, covering all the aspects surrounding the production of quality, effective data visualizations. Interesting projects, like Santiago Ortiz’ ‚ÄėData visualization references network, or Moritz Stefaner’s Viziosphere give a pretty good idea of how vast and rich the data visualization community is. Others like Francesco Franchi or Alberto Cairo¬†have¬†their sets of references publicly available, not to mention, of course, each and every blogroll that even the most simple blog keeps with their recommended links.
We decided, a couple of weeks ago, to update our recommended blogs page and pick 30 blogs out of those hundreds out there – something that has proven to be quite a challenge, one that is perhaps too ambitious, and therefore, somewhat faulty. Apologies if we skipped some of the ‘obvious’ ones, and also for not being really that original in the selection: most of these are very well-known inside the data viz community.
Inspired by the awesome AllTop for infographics (although there are others out there, using the same approach), the Blog page features the three latest posts of each website in the list, via RSS. So, this isn’t anything that special or new, just something that we felt it would fit well in our goal of being a valid resource for those interested in data visualization, especially those in the early stages of their learning.
Anyway, which are the 30 blogs we picked for this first experience? Here’s the list, in alphabetic order:
We’ll be probably expanding this selection soon, so feel free to leave other suggestions for a future update. And it’s great to see the early reactions to this small initiative, like the ones below [Updated with new messages]:

Thanks to all of you for your feedback – and just in case you’re wondering, Visual Loop Brasil has a similar page, with 30 blogs in Portuguese, so if you’re from Brazil, Portugal or any other Portuguese-speaking country, that’s the place to go.
