Infographic showcase from newspapers and magazines

November 14, 2013

In yesterday’s Digital Cartography post, we showed you several interactive maps depicting the tragedy that hit the Philippines on November 8th. Six days after Typhoon Haiyan – one of the strongest storms ever recorded – slammed into cities and towns in the central Philippines, leaving thousands of fatalities and millions with their lives broken, the scenario of despair and fear is now leading to widespread looting of shops and warehouses for food, water and supplies. At this point, any help is crucial (Here‘s a comprehensive list of organizations to which you can donate).

Despite this tragic event, we haven’t found many examples of infographics in print editions. But that is not completely unusual, especially when the situation in the field is still chaotic, making accurate reporting a though job. It is almost sure that we’ll be seeing more print infographics as the next weeks unfold, and the true magnitude of this disaster is revealed.
