The importance of creating infographics adjusted for the reader's requirements

November 11, 2013  |  CATEGORIES: Featured, News

We continue revisiting some of the talented infographic designers that were already featured on our PortfĂłlio of the Week section, and once more visiting India. Santosh Kushwaha was, actually, the first designer from that country we had the pleasure to feature, and here’s what he has to say about what’s been happening in his work since that last post.

“The past year has been a great learning experience for me. I worked with a number of global clients and also made it to the list of the world’s top 17 independent infographic designers 2013 by Graph.net, a well-known portal for infographics.

I have learnt that we should create infographics for readers and not for ourselves. We do not have to create a world-class painting for art collectors, and so we must make graphics based on readers’ requirements. Most designers, however, tend to forget this and make infographics according to their personal tastes.

Working with various clients from across the world has taught me that infographics should be simple, easy to understand, engaging and creative. It is essential to focus mainly on data rather than on the creative part. After all, what is the purpose of making an infographic where the visual is highly creative but the text so tiny that readers find it difficult to read?

The coming year will be challenging, as I work with new clients and on new projects with existing customers. But it will be exciting too, and I am looking forward to the months ahead.

Here are a few works which I would like to share for readers and you can see more work to my website.”
