An experimental visualization using the open source D3.js library illustrates the network of world merchandise trade between 2008 and 2010. The dynamic chart, created by data visualization company Locus Insight, shows the value of trade between the major world regions between 2008 to 2010.

With the aim of clarifying the strength of trade links between the major world regions, and the changing relationships over time, the Locus Insight team has built an innovative viewer for global merchandise trading relationships.

According to the site, new features will be added, such as drill-down to country level and analysis of trade by product category.
