Middle East News Design Competition

Deadline for submissions is tomorrow; all publications from the Middle East countries are invited to send their works.

October 4, 2012

[Update: we just received a notice by Douglas Okasaky that the deadline for submissions is actually November 5th, not October, as it was mentioned in the SND’s website. So, that means more time for you to prepare your entries!]

One of the highlights of the 1st Middle East News Design Conference & Workshop, to be held in Beirut (Lebanon) on the 8th and 9th November, the design competition is open for entries in eight different categories. All publications from the Middle East nations are invited to submit their works, but must hurry: the deadline is tomorrow (October 5th).

Like so many other Society for News Design (SND) events, several well-known names of editorial design and visual journalism will be speaking, such as Douglas Okasaki (Gulf News and SND-Regional Director), Luiz Chumpitaz (Dubai Media Inc.), Adonis Durado (Times of Oman and Al Shabiba Oman), among others.

From the event’s website:

The visual aspect of a publication is critical in terms of adding value to the editorial content, attracting new readers and maintaining reader loyalty. For the first time, the Society for News Design- Middle East and Africa has created a space – through News Design Conference and workshop – for award-winning publications in the region to share their experience and showcase best practices in innovation, creativity and efficiency in terms of producing content across platforms.

We are huge fans of the designs being made ion that part of the globe – they’re frequently featured on our Tumblr, so keep following this space for further updates on the event.
