Learn the essentials of data visualization with Alberto Cairo in this Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas' course

October 6, 2012

We know that a good part of our readers are not data visualization experts, but instead just curious about the subject. The truth is that either if you work as a graphic designer, a PR or social media analyst, or even if you have an administrative role inside an organization, sooner or later you’ll be facing the challenge of presenting data and information. It could be a report, a presentation or, in some cases, an infographic.

And despite all the literature out there, as well as other resources from which you can learn data visualization, the best way to start is through a course. We’ve interviewed here on Visual Loop some extraordinary folks that teach information design, like Andy Kirk and Alberto Cairo, and it was precisely from Alberto that we received the notice of a great opportunity for all of those eager to dive deep into this fantastic world.

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas (KCJA) is offering the Introduction to Infographics and Data Visualization online course, from October 28 to December 8, 2012. Alberto Cairo will minister the six-week long course, that will provide you with that much-needed understanding of the essentials of visual representation of data.

Here’s the video where Alberto explained the course:

The course is completely free, you just need to head on to the KCJA’s website and create your account, in case you don’t have one yet.
