Set to be presented at the¬†TOCFrankfurt conference – ¬†which is part of the¬†¬†Frankfurt Book Fair -, the¬†The Global Map of Publishing Markets 2012¬†is the first visual representation of publishing around the¬†world by the numbers. Created by R√ľdiger Wischenbart for the¬†International Publishers Association(IPA), the report is a result of a research effort initiated in 2011, that was then visualized using the Worldmapper toolset.

From the report:

The 2012 Global Map of Publishing Markets displays a world of striking inequalities. A few countries¬†form powerful¬†centers¬†of gravity, with several more ‚Äď those which economists call ‚Äúemerging markets‚ÄĚ‚Ästshown at least relatively equal to their size in terms of territory and population. But the majority of¬†markets are difficult to identify, lost in the periphery.
