To close our 2012 series of Portfolios, we  bring you the work of Antonio Farach, currently the Head of Infographics at the Times of Oman and Al Shabiba newspapers, based in Muscat, Oman.

Antonio was a Civil Engineering student at the Honduras’ National University but ended up quitting after realizing  that he was most interested on producing his essays with its respective diagrams and illustrations that staying on construction fields.

He jumped from the concrete and iron directly to the newsroom as an infographic reporter in 1998 at the newspaper Tiempo, based in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We can say he is a self-taught infographic person,  learning about journalism and graphic theory by himself.

Portfolio of the Week – Antonio Farach

Between 2005 and 2010 his talent and design skills was commissioned by newspapers, magazines and websites of Ireland, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Spain and the  US.

His work has been recognized by the Society for News Design several times since 2003, in the areas of Infographics and design, having now 10 excellence awards, 1 silver and 2 gold (in collaboration). The Malofiej award was a stranger until 2011 – when appear in bronze and 2012 ,  in silver. Since working in Middle East, he got from the WAN-IFRA consecutively in 2011 and 2012, the gold award for the best newspaper’s infographic in the whole Asian continent.
