[This is a guest post by Mengying Wang, telling us a bit about her infographic project'Hitchcock'].
The infographic is part of a school project at Ravensbourne, London. The project’s aim is to use infographic design to present the famous film director Alfred Hitchcock’s works and life.
Before create the infographic I did many researches about Hitchcock. What kind of person was he? What’s his film style? I want to create an infographic not only shows the data but also fits his style, to make people think ‘oh that’s Hitchcock’ when they see my infographic.
Once I had the basic thoughts about the project, I began thinking about howto use graphic elements to present it. The idea is using a swirl to show the films he made in his life. I limited the colors I use in it, and added some texture to make it feel both retro and modern. I used different patterns to present different periods (silent movies, black & white movies, etc.) of his films.
From inside to outside, the infographic presents the timeline of Hitchcock’s film. And when you are reading it, it feels like you are getting into a swirling vortex of his films.
