The work of Amr Elsawy

Showcase of visual journalism from Egypt

March 24, 2013

Once again, a first time here on our Portfolio of the Week. The infographic designer being featured today is based in Cairo, Egypt, a country that has a troubled recent history of political instability, but also holds a special place in Mankind’s history, hard to measure in its importance – including in Design.

Egypt, with all its mysteries  and fabulous tales of pyramids and pharaohs, became also known for being one of the North African countries involved in what history has now called The Arab Spring. We will not go into that, there’s definitively a lot of articles and resources out there for you to get the full measure of this revolution, but when we talk about visual journalism in those particular countries, we feel a bit of context is necessary.

So, it’s a pleasure to present Amr Elsawy , a visual designer with a degree in Journalism from Cairo University.

Amr Elsawy – featured Portfolio of the Week

He has worked at major publications like the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram and  Saudi Arabia’s Al-Yaum, and more recently as a graphic expert for Gallo Multimedia, a  Czech company that provides services for newsrooms.
