.Astronomy 4: Data Visualization in discussion

One of the most important events about Astonomy goes 'visual'

While the Internet still recovers from the Higgs Boson ‘comic sans’ presentation fiasco, the topic of data visualization applied to the field of astronomy will be discussed at the fourth edition of .Astronomy . The event starts today (09/07), and it’s being held in Heidelberg, Germany.

According to the site, “.Astronomy (pronounced ‘dot-astronomy’) aims to bring together an international community of astronomy researchers, developers, educators and communicators to showcase and build upon these many web-based projects, from outreach and education to research tools and data analysis.”

The mix of people attending the event includes professors, journalists, web developers, bloggers, postdocs and students. They will have the opportunity to listen to the insights brought by Professor Alyssa Goodman, author Noah Iliinky, Information Scientist Alberto Pepe, among other experts on scientific data processing and visualization.
