Despite having in this post a very assorted selection of impressive data visualizations, our special mention goes to the interactive report published online today (05/09) by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo about the 125th anniversary of the Isaac Peral submarine.
Our friend Juan C. Sanchez told us a bit about the project, that includes interactive and video infographics:
“After five years of exhaustive study of the submarine and after scanning more than 300 original drawings by Isaac Peral, which were in naval museums and libraries of Spain, Juan Ignacio Chacón, author of the book: “Submarino Peral”, helped me create a virtual model of the ship in which previously unknown details can be appreciated.”
This is an unique view of the first practical submarine ever made, as Juan explains:
“Never, until today, has anyone made a virtual recreation of the Submarine in 3D so precisely accurate to what was the original ship. And now, thanks to the planes, we can know the location of the various equipment that the submarine had installed inside, and how this achievement of naval engineering worked.”
A great work by one of the top interactive designers out there, coming from one of the first newsrooms in the world to ever develop interactive infographics!
