After yesterday, when we showcased a selection of awarded print infographics of Malofiej 22, it’s kind of obvious that this Interactive Inspiration will also be about the most important event in visual journalism. The online categories are the focus of today’s post, and in case you want to check all the winners, the full list is available here.
The Peter Sullivan Award – Best of Show Online was given to The New York Times, the big winner of Malofiej22, for a work that defies the boundaries of what an infographic is, in the modern context of visual narratives and interactive storytelling. Spectacular in its conception and presentation, ‘Front Row to Fashion Week’’s pick as the best online graphic was surprising and at the same time refreshing, in a sense that it can inspire others to invest in experimenting with less-orthodox visualizations to tell stories – a bit like it happened with Snow Fall, in 2012.
Other notable winners od the 71 medals to online entries (8 gold, 24 silver and 39 bronze medals) include The Guardian, The Washington Post and National Geographic, but it’s a big list with several news outlets featured, so let’s just get into it:
