It’s been quite some time, since we made reference to a Flickr user or set in this space – it’s getting easier to forget how such a great place Flickr is to find old stuff -, so we decided to open today’s post with some vintage awesomeness, courtesy of the Norman B. Leventhal Center at the Boston Public Library.

Their Flickr page has over 4.000 images available, and among the many interesting sets, we picked the “Pictorial Maps” to feature here. For those who are more familiar with old cartography, these images will come as nothing new, since they’ve been around the Internet for a while now. We’re talking about the humorous work of William Harvey, depicting the maps of 19th century European nations through the use of symbolical – and provocative – illustrations.

Hope you enjoy it – and have a great week!
