Welcome to!

After two and a half years sharing infographics on Tumblr, we decided to take it to the next level.

June 29, 2012

It took some time, but finally, after two and a half years sharing infographics on Tumblr, I’m delighted to present you

It has been a fantastic ride, filled with surprises, new friendships and a lot of learning. And also, on a more personal level, the much-needed proof that if  you’re truly committed to something  in the Internet, and are whiling to work hard, good thinks always happen.

But enough of this talk. What is, after all, this ‘new’ Visual Loop? Above all, a digital space dedicated to the several dimensions of data visualization. And yes, that includes infographics. But, contrary to what is done at our Tumblr, which is ‘just’ a gigantic collection of images, our focus here will be to share a more comprehensive, thorough and informative content.

In practice, what we are celebrating today is the launch of two websites: Visual Loop ( and Visual Loop Brazil ( /br). The first is the home-base, the international site, covering general issues and aiming to a more broad audience. The second can be regarded as the first franchise, set to deliver  a more local content.

Could I’ve done this on Tumblr? I think it’s not the ideal platform. Besides, It’s clear there’s a need to separate the non-stop stream of images from this new content, and that means that if you just want to follow us there, you can keep doing it, because nothing’s changing. We love our Tumblr community, and we have plans to make some improvements there, over time.

But speaking of information visualization is much, much more than infographics. All this talk of ‘Big Data and business analytics, visual journalism (not to be missed, our conversation with Alberto Cairo) and the growing corporate demand for alternative forms (effective?) to transmit information are just some of the topics we’ll be approaching, with the valuable help of professionals from various fields.

You can also participate. In addition to infographics, you can now also send original articles, tools, blogs and portfolio suggestions, press releases, events to add to our agenda, and we even have a space to advertise job openings. Visit our FAQ and contact us if you have any questions or suggestions.

In closing, a quick thank you to the team of Terreno Digital and Rocket Host, for their assistance designing and hosting  the site, and, of course, to you.

Thank you for joining us on Tumblr, Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook or Google+. Your messages are the real ‘fuel’ for this work, and I sincerely hope you enjoy this new phase.

And if this is the first time you visit us, welcome!

All the best,
