We remain in Europe, trying to uncover great information designers to feature on our Portfolio of the Week. This time, we bring you the work of Matteo Riva, a graphic designer based in Milan, Italy.
Matteo studied Graphic Design at Politecnico di Milano, graduating in 2010, after completing a thesis on Olivetti Industrial film – a film which he still considers one of the best stories ever told. Matteo started working with infographics when an architectural firm approached him to create a big map for the city of Selinunte, a small Sicilian town which holds a major archaeological site. Matteo is also working for Vita, a magazine published by a non-profit, composing the graphic layout for all published articles.
He has since transitioned to full-time work there and continues to translate stories into colorful and simple infographics. Matteo’s work has garnered attention, leading to other editorial and commercial projects. He currently creates maps for Panorama magazine and for Quattroruote, a monthly car magazine. Additionally, Matteo has collaborated with Corriere della Sera on infographics, all designed for the agency Accurat.
His latest work is an interactive platform comparing the social media sites of politicians running in the upcoming election. This demo project is the base of the one developed on repubblica.it, Italy’s most popular newspaper.
