For this edition of Portfolio of the Week we invited Emmanuel Paez, a 26 year-old Mexican designer currently working at the newspaper Reforma.
He graduated in Graphic Communication with a specialization in Editorial Design with top honors from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Xochimilco, after which he joined the newspaper. During his academic career, he was an active continutor to the Boletín Espacio Diseño, a publication within the university, and had as mentors the typographer Armando Pineda Cruz and the late artist Bárbara Paciorek Kowalowka.
In November, 2010, he participated in the international poster design challenge “Climate Change”, organized by Helmut Langer, and in 2012 his design was showcased in a collective exhibit curated by Minoru Niijima, at the Musashino Art University Museum & Library, Tokio.
In that same year, he produced another poster, paying tribute to his teacher Bárbara Paciorek. This work was also selected for a collective exhibit organized by Xavier Bermúdez, at the Ramón López Velarde gallery, and at the 12th Bienal Internacional del Cartel in México.
Now, at Reforma, he spends most of his time designing for the Fashion section, and here is a sample of that work:
